I love Minnesota and the people I get to see here so much, it feels almost unreal. I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day doing familyish things and a bit of hermitting, and on the 26th finally started to call people and attempt to make plans. There has been a lot of awesome in the past few days.

I spent most of the weekend staying up stupid-late putting movies in my Netflix queue and ordering lots of books because the prof teaching the fall quarter of the modern Japanese history course sent out his working syllabus. I had a truly fabulous time at Comic-con. The crowds were enormous, but overall they annoyed me less than expected. I made it in to almost all of the panels I really wanted to see, though this was in part due to deliberately picking only a few to focus on. my hard drive just died. or is in the process of dying -- tonight i will make one last attempt to coax it into letting me backup my applications. luckily, i have all of my actually precious materials (papers, notes, etc) backed up already, but it would make reinstalling everything a lot easier if I could get all of my applications onto my ( Read more... )
